Laconia, NH--------V. Christine Mei Bickford, 81, of 639 Benton Drive, departed this life on March 26, 2007 at the Lakes Region General Hospital following a long illness.

She was born in Iroquois, West Virginia on August 11, 1925, the daughter of the late James O. and the late Anna Marie Cooper Meadows. She had lived in the Laconia area for the last 7 years, having formerly resided in Beckley, West Virginia, and Littleton, Massachusetts.

Christine graduated in 1943 from Stoco High School, in Raleigh County, West Virginia. In early life, she worked in the sheet metal business and in the restaurant business. She retired from Digital Equipment Corporation with 13 years of service in 1989.

Christine was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Mei, and her second husband Robert O. Bickford. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers: Ezra Meadows, James O. Meadows, Jr., Josiah Robert Meadows, Willie Kenneth Meadows, and Tracy Glen Meadows, and 3 sisters: Eva Danese Miller, Prudie Geneva Jackson, and Marjorie Mae Kent.

Survivers include 2 daughters: Vicki Denise Davis and her husband Steven of Sandwich, N.H., and Judy Lynn Johansen and her husband David of New Boston, N.H. There are 4 surviving grandchildren; Heather Rene Davis of Meredith, N.H., Gretchen Elizabeth Brown of Brownfield, Maine, Scott David Johansen of New Boston, N.H., and Rachel Marie Johansen of New Boston, N.H. plus 2 great-grandchildren: Jordan Mei Cilley of Meredith, N.H. and Makya Christopher Brown of Brownfield, Maine and a  brother: David Lee Meadows of Clarksburg, West Virginia and a sister Shirley June Ellison of Hubert, North Carolina, and a host of nieces and nephews all over the United States.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 29, 2007 from 7-9 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Whipple Ave. entrance of the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home

Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton, Massachusetts on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 11:30 AM.
