Laconia, NH---May Ellen O’Connor, 96, of 30 County Drive and formerly of Laurelton St., Springfield, Mass., died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Sunday, March 4, 2007. Mrs. O’Connor was the widow of Donald P. O’Connor who died in 2001.
Mrs. O’Connor was born May 8, 1910 in Brockton, Mass., the daughter of James and Gertrude (Young) Nesworthy.
Mrs. O’Connor was employed at Schlatter’s Florist, Main Street, Springfield, Mass. and was also employed as a nurse’s aid at the Shriner’s Hospital, Springfield, Mass.
Mrs. O’Connor enjoyed painting, hooking rugs, antiques and camping. She was an avid reader.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Alice O’Connor, of Holderness, N.H. and two grandchildren, Sarah O’Connor of Dover, N.H. and Kate O’Connor of Austin, Texas and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James Nesworthy, and by four sisters, Ethel Croft, Caroline Hicks, Jane Zack and Anne Leinicke.
No calling hours were held.
A Graveside Service was held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one’s local Salvation Army.
