Laconia-----Kathy Reigh Downs, 48, of 79 Warren Street, died on March 15, 2007 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, Mass. after a brief illness.

Kathy was born February 14, 1959 in Exeter, NH, the daughter of Elizabeth (DeBoer) and Karl Nilges, Sr.  She lived in Laconia for the last 2 1⁄2 years. 

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Brandy Downs and her fiancé, Brian; two grandchildren, James E. Nichols III and Sheyna R. Nichols, all of Laconia and her fiancé, Bill McAllister, also  of Laconia; five sisters, Betty Powers, of Franklin, Debbie Gilman of Alton, Karyl Hillsgrove of Alton, Mary Chayer of Pittsfield and Donna Dandridge of Florida; four brothers, Sid Nilges of Gilmanton, Karl Nilges of Concord, Gary Nilges of Northfield and Erich Nilges of Loudon; nineteen nieces and nephews and aunts, uncles and cousins,  Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Nilges, in 2004 and by her father, Karl Nilges, Sr., in 1992.

According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, N. H. 03101.
