Laconia----Barbara Jenkins Michael, 81, of 175 Blueberry Lane, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Monday, March 9, 2009. She was the widow of Wilson F. Michael.

Barbara was born October 9, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of David and Betsy (Knowles) Sawyer,

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Laconia. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1945 and was employed at the John P. Colby Ins. Agency and later the Melcher & Prescott Agency.

Barbara was an active member of the Laconia Emblem Club. She enjoyed camping, the ocean and crocheting.

Barbara is survived by a son, David Jenkins, and his wife, Melissa, of Laconia; three daughters, Betty Secore of Hardin, Mont., Lora Jenkins of Gilford and Denise Goupil and her husband, Roger, of Laconia; three grandchildren, Robert Jenkins, Scott White and Troy White; two great grandchildren and two nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, John D. Sawyer.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
