Laconia-----Joseph F. Walsh, Jr., 73, of 527 Harrison Court, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the Lakes Region General Hospital.
Mr. Walsh was born August 7, 1929 in Lynn, MA, the son of Joseph F. and Margaret A. (Buchanan) Walsh. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn, MA and also a graduate of Northeastern University.
Mr. Walsh served in the U. S. Army for two years and the U. S. Air Force for four years. He lived in Peabody, MA before moving to Gilford, NH where he lived for fourteen years. For the past two years, he lived in Laconia, NH. Mr. Walsh was a computer programmer and systems analyst for General Electric in Lynn and Wilmington, MA for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Walsh was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport, NH and was a former member of the Valladolid Council #70 Knights of Columbus of Lynn, MA. He enjoyed genealogy research and traveling to Ireland and Scotland to trace family history.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Corcoran) Walsh of Laconia, NH; four brothers, John Walsh of Wilmington, MA, Thomas Walsh of W. Peabody, MA, James Walsh and David Walsh, both of Lynnfield, MA; a sister, Marguerite Farrell of Sudbury, MA; seven nieces and nine nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, May 23, 2003 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oncology Department of the Lakes Region General Hospital, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
