Sanbornton-----Mrs. Barbara G. Smart, 77, of 38 Collieson Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Sunday, May 11, 2003.
Mrs. Smart was born November 2, 1925 in Lisbon, NH, the daughter of George M. and Harriet (Moore) Goudie.
Mrs. Smart had been a resident of Sanbornton since 1949. She was a registered nurse and worked at the Soldiers Home in Tilton for many years, retiring in the mid 1980s. She was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church, a member of the Belknap County Extension Service, the Sanbornton Historical Society and the Sanbornton Bay Circle of Home and Family. She enjoyed reading and spending time at their camp in Pittsburg, NH.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne D. Smart of Sanbornton; three sons, Chester G. Smart and his wife, Helen, of Brunswick, Vermont, Stephan D. Smart and his wife, Lisa, of Meredith, NH, and Ross T. Smart of Seattle, Washington, a daughter, Carol Ann ( Smart) Baggaley and her husband, Daniel, of Center Harbor, NH; 8 grandchildren, Nathan Smart and Hannah Smart, both of Brunswick, Vermont, Adrienne Smart, Leah Smart, Ian Smart all of Meredith, Sarah Clark of Meredith and Samuel Baggaley and Jacob Baggaley both of Center Harbor; a sister Genevieve (Goudie) Choate of Columbus, S. C, a sister-in-law, Pauline Goudie of Littleton, NH; and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert L. Goudie.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003 at 11:00AM at the Laconia Congregational Church., Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. Rev. Carolyn Keilig, Interim Associate Pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sanbornton Public Library, PO Box 88, Sanbornton, NH 03269.
