Laconia-----Mrs. Marie Elaine Dow, 68, of 3160 Parade Road died at her home on Saturday, May 22, 2004.
Mrs. Dow was born November 9, 1935 in Winchendon, MA the daughter of Eugene R. and Mae E. (Rash) Carr. She had been a resident of Laconia for the past 45 years coming from Epping.
She was the General Manager and Bookkeeper for Christmas Island for 25 years retiring in 1984. She also was the bookkeeper for the family owned and operated Dow Lumber Co.
Marie tailored baby clothing to wedding gowns, also knitted baby clothing and sweaters of all sizes. She liked to draw, read and make afghans. She and her husband built their own home with wood they cut themselves.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Harry Robert Dow; two sons, Daniel Robert Dow of Laconia, Thomas Brent Dow, Sr of Gilford; three daughters, Cynthia Jane Dow of Gilford, NH, Janet Marie Shuey of MO and Linda Jean LaBraney of Center Harbor, NH; a brother, Earl E. Carr of NE ; three sisters Beverly E. Grautski of Whitefield, NH, Edith A. Gaertner of CA and Patricia J. Bragdon of Loudon, NH; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert E. Carr.
There will be no calling hours.
A private service will be held by the family.
