Laconia----Donald E. Fletcher, 81, of 765 Union Avenue, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Friday, May 14, 2004. He was the widower of Beatrice (Roy) Fletcher, who died in 1989.
Mr. Fletcher was born September 12, 1922 in Concord, NH, the son of Edgar and Minerva (Laws) Fletcher. He graduated from Concord High School and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
Mr. Fletcher came to Laconia in 1963 and was manager of Laconia Gas Company. He and his wife owned and operator Fletcher’s Market on Gilford Avenue for many years. He was a former resident-manager of Lake Village Apartments. Mr. Fletcher was an avid fisherman and nature lover.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Francoeur, of Gilford; two sons, Gary Fletcher, of Richmond, VA and Bradley Fletcher of So. Berwick, Maine; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Roland Fletcher, of Concord and many nephews and nieces.
Calling Hours will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 from 6:00-8:00PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 11:00AM.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH at a later date.
