Meredith Center-----Mary C. Jones, R.N., 92, of 71 Collins Brook Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Thursday, May 5, 2005.
Mrs. Jones was born June 25, 1912 in Concord, NH, the daughter of James H. and Helen (Bancroft) Crossley.
She graduated from Concord High School and also graduated from the Laconia Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Jones lived in the Lakes Region for most of her life and for many years wintered in Englewood, Florida. She was the school nurse at Laconia High School for almost thirty years, retiring in 1977. Mrs. Jones was an antique dealer and loved art. She also enjoyed playing bridge, fishing and the out of doors. She was a world-wide traveler.
Survivors include a son, Bob Jones, of Meredith Center, NH; a daughter, Mary Quintana, of Enfield, NH; three grandchildren, Laura Pierce of Alexandria, Virginia, Meredith DeWitt of Harvard, MA and Steven R. Jones of Center Harbor, NH; three great granddaughters; a sister, Marcia Wilkinson, of Boulder, Colorado; several nephews and nieces and her dear friend, Natalie I. Smith, of Meredith Center, NH.
She will be sorely missed by those who loved her.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia NH.
A Celebration of Her Life will follow the calling hours at 7:00PM also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the family lot in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247 or to the charity of one's choice.
