Laconia----John W. Lodge, 86, formerly of 120 Academy Street, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Tuesday, May 31, 2005.
Mr. Lodge was born September 14, 1918 in Methuen, MA, the son of George and Elizabeth (Dawson) Lodge. Mr. Lodge lived in Boscawen for a few years before moving to Laconia in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Lodge was employed at Cantin Chevrolet for thirty-one years where he was the service manager. He retired in 1981.
Mr. Lodge was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Sanbornton. He was a life member of the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet (Braley) Lodge, of Laconia; a daughter, Karen Sue Gagne, of Gilford, NH; a son, Bruce John Lodge and his wife Bettie of Amelia Island, Florida; seven grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Lodge of Coventry, RI and several nephews and nieces. Beside his parents he was predeceased by two brothers George Lodge and Harry Lodge and also a great-grandson Hunter Lodge.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on Friday June 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH. The Rev. Dr. Robert Robertson, pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Sanbornton, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or to the Belknap County Nursing Home, C/0 Harriet Lodge 30 County Drive Laconia, NH 03246.
