Sanbornton-----Daniel “Bill” W. Combs, 62, of 564 Lower Bay Road died at Genesis Eldercare Network Laconia Center, Laconia on Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
Mr. Combs was born May 29, 1943 in Freeport, Long Island, New York, the son of Preston and Elnear (Remick) Combs. He was raised in Merrick, Long Island, New York and moved to Milford, NH in 1962. He also lived in Nashua, Merrimack, Hebron and most recently, Sanbornton, NH.
Mr. Combs received his Tech and Associate Degrees at the New Hampshire Community Technical College and New Hampshire College in Manchester, NH. He served in the New Hampshire Army National Guard in Milford, Hillsboro and Peterborough, NH. He was honorably discharged from the 205th Engineering Detachment, Peterborough in 1972. Mr. Combs was employed by New England Telephone, (now Verizon) for thirty-one years, retiring in 1997and then held part-time jobs at the Citizen’s Bank and Aubuchon Hardware in Laconia until he fully retired in 2005 following major surgery. Mr. Combs performed volunteer work for the homeless in Nashua and Concord and was an honorary member of Local 2320 IBEW.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary (Gilman) Combs, of Sanbornton; his daughter, Kristan Combs, of Manchester; a son, Matthew Combs of Montreal, Canada; two step daughters, Jennifer Carrier, of Gilford and Christine Hagewood; a step-son, Michael Combs, of Nashua, NH and many relatives and friends.
According to Bill’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 2:00PM at the family lot in Homeland Cemetery, Pleasant St., Rte 104, Bristol, NH. Rev. John Davies, Chaplain of Community Health & Hospice, will officiate.
