Laconia-----A Graveside Service will be held at Union Cemetery, Laconia on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11:00AM for James W. Hafner, 80, of 50 Grant Street, who died at the Genesis Eldercare Network, Laconia Center on Thursday, March 9, 2006.
Mr. Hafner was born March 20, 1925 in Springfield, MA, the son of James F. and Caroline (Eno) Hafner.
Mr. Hafner served in the U. S. Marines during WWII. He was employed in the newspaper field for several years, retiring ten years ago. He lived in Petersham, MA for many years and then lived in Merrimack, NH for a short time before moving to Laconia six and half years ago.
Mr. Hafner was proud to be a Marine. He loved fishing and woodworking and was a member of the Bass Masters Association and the DAV. He formerly raced motorcycles and participated in roller derby.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann (Jewett) Hafner, of Laconia; a son, William Hafner and his wife, Charlene, of Merrimack, NH; a daughter, Sandra Shene and her husband, William, of Laconia, NH; a step son, Eugene Cassavaugh and his wife, Kathy, of Belmont, NH; two step daughters, Sonda Boisvert and her husband, Daryl, of Laconia and Kim SanSoucie and Jeff Good of Laconia; five grandchildren, Robert Scerra, James Dunn, Melissa Simmonds, James Patenaude and Kim St. George; four step grandchildren, Nicole Boisvert, Bethany SanSoucie, Matthew Richards and Joshua Richards; many great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Delcey Hafner.
