Warner-----Henrietta McAbee Hess passed away peacefully in her sleep at 7:30AM, May 29, 2006, at the Pine Rock Manor facility in Warner, NH. She was the widow of James L. Hess, Jr.
Henrietta was born January 30, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of Richard and Helen (Herb) McAbee. She was a graduate of Bucknell University and held a Master’s degree in French Literature from Temple University. She taught French for several years. In her lifetime, she had the opportunity to travel in Europe several times and lived briefly in Kowloon, Hong Kong. She also loved to knit sweaters for her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, H. Elizabeth Fisher of Laconia, NH and Carol L. Plimpton of Cherry Hill, NJ; a son, William M. Hess of Miami, Florida; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, James L. Hess III. Her family commits her to the love and peace of Jesus Christ.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH from 2:00-3:00PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00PM also at the Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in the family lot in Mt. Royal Memorial Park in Glenshaw, PA.
