Laconia-----Elias G. Boughton, 87, of 73 Old Prescott Hill Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, November 17, 2002. Mr. Boughton was the widower of Winnifred (Haddock) Boughton who died in 1989.
Mr. Boughton was born June 30, 1915 in Madison County, Iowa, the son of Chester and Etta Boughton. He moved from Iowa to Laconia, NH over 45 years ago. He was employed at Webster Valve for over 15 years and was formerly employed at Tekwood and at Grossman&Mac226;s.
Mr. Boughton served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Laconia Post #1670 and the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1 of Laconia. He was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include a son, Michael G. Boughton of Gilmanton, NH and a daughter, Sharon A. Chagnon of Belmont, NH; five grandchildren, Sara Boughton of Tilton, Justin Boughton of Laconia and Melissa Boughton of Gilford, Kelli-Jo Beattie of Franklin and Rheanna DeCormier of Belmont; five great grandchildren, Sean, Taylor, Catlin, Nicholas, and Devin; one brother, Loren Boughton of Iowa; two sisters, Mary Stalcup and Leona Hunt both of Iowa and many nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Stephen Ludwick, pastor of the Loudon Ridge Family Bible Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
