Laconia-----Yvonne L. Dunlap, 96, of 21 Ledges Drive, Taylor Community, and formerly of Union Avenue, Laconia and 9 Sargent Place, Gilford, died at the Congregate Living Center on Wednesday, November 23, 2005. She was the widow of Kenneth R. Dunlap, former Laconia City Clerk, who died in 1993.
Mrs. Dunlap was born December 9, 1908 in Nashua, NH, the daughter of Charles and Flora (Morin) Lesieur. She had been a resident of the Lakes Region for over seventy years.
Mrs. Dunlap was a hairdresser at Carroll’s in Laconia for several years. She moved to Bermuda where she continued working as a hairdresser. She and her late husband, Ken, were married in Bermuda and returned to Laconia to raise their family. For a number of years, she operated a shop from her home known as the Beauty Box.
Mrs. Dunlap was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport, a member and former president of the Ladies’ Guild and volunteered at the New To You Shop and the Church’s Bingo. She was known as the “Flower Lady” and always kept the Church looking special. Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Laconia Country Club and played golf until she was 88 years old. She was also a member of the Bridge Club, the Garden Club and the Idlenots.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth R. ‘Skip” Dunlap, Jr. and James J. Dunlap, both of Gilford; three daughters, Patricia A. Perry of Gilford and Jane R. Campbell and Suzanne L. Watson, both of Arlington, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her ten brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 25, 2005 from 5:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Sunshine Fund of the Taylor Community, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
