Laconia-----Mrs. Irja S. Roux, 86, of 2 Chester Court, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, October 30, 2002. She was the widow of Leo G. Roux who died in 1979.
Mrs. Roux was born August 24, 1916 in the Porter Neighborhood,
West Paris, Maine, the daughter of Matti and Annie (Korhonen) Schroderus.
Mrs. Roux was a long time resident of Laconia and worked in the cafeteria of Pleasant Street School and the Belknap County Nursing Home.
She was a longtime member of the Laconia Emblem Club #80 and the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post 1 Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis P. Roux of Bedford, NH and Leo G. Roux, Jr. of Evergreen, CO; four grandsons; four sisters, Lila Walter of Bridgton, Maine, Tyyne Bemis of San Jose, California, Irene Newcomb of Norway, Maine and Anna Welch of So. Windsor, CT; many nephews and nieces; and her long time companion, Albert Vallee, of Laconia. She was predeceased by a son, Richard D. Roux, in 1987 and by a daughter, Betsy Roux.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
