Edward C. Thompson

Gilmanton Iron Works-----Edward C. Thompson, 78, of 87 Halls Hill Road, died at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2002. Mr. Thompson was the widower of Angela (Delafano) Thompson who died in 1993.

Mr. Thompson was born July 17, 1924 in Fall River, MA, the son of Maro B. and Cordelia L. (Carpenter) Thompson. He moved from Fall River, MA to Gilmanton Iron Works, NH in 1928 and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.

Mr. Thompson served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Laconia, Post #1670. Survivors include 8 daughters, Doreen D. Moorehead, Elaine M. Mooney, Debbie A. Goddard, and Janet L. Donovan all of Gilmanton, NH, Joyce S. Walsh of Laconia, NH, Cheryl L. Draper of Boca Raton, Florida, Cindy J. Monson of Stoneham, MA and Linda I. Thompson of Gilford, NH; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchild; 2 sisters, Antoinette Eastman of Winnisquam, NH, and Beatrice Russell of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH and several nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be held from 7:00-9:00PM on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St, Laconia, NH, using the Whipple Avenue entrance of the funeral home.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Laconia, NH on Friday, October 4, 2002 at 10:00 AM.

Burial will follow in the family lot in the Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery in Gilmanton, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of NH, 9 Cedarwood Drive, Unit 12, Bedford, NH 03110.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
