Loran "Buster" W. Matthews

Gilford-------Loran "Buster" W. Matthews, 100 formerly of 21 Hatch Drive, Gilford, died at the Franklin Regional Hospital, Franklin, Friday, October 1, 2004. He had been a resident of the Peabody Home, Franklin. He was the widower of Eleanor (Pickering) Matthews who died in 1999.

Mr. Matthews was born Oct. 27, 1903 in Jordan Falls, Nova Scotia, Canada the son of Roland and Hattie (Blackburn) Matthews.

Mr. Matthews had lived in Hudson, MA for many years and was employed at the LaPoint Machine Company for 22 years, retiring in 1966. He had been a resident of Gilford since 1980 and was the caretaker of Pine Grove Cemetery for many years.

Mr. Matthews was a member of the Gilford Community Church, Gilford and was a member of the Eagles.

Survivors include a daughter Barbara McCarthy of Hudson, MA; two step-daughters Joyce Papps of Gilford and Judith Ann Floyd of Plymouth; 5 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife Jeannette Matthews.

A calling hour will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 from 1-2PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House entrance of the funeral home. A Funeral Service will follow the calling hour at 2:00 PM also at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gilford Community Church 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, NH 03249.
