Laconia-----Palma O. Burbank Babin, 89, of 406 Court Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 after a period of failing health. She was the widow of George J. Burbank Babin who died in 2002.
Mrs. Babin was born May 4, 1916 in Rochester, NH, the daughter of Walter and Clara (Lachance) Lambert.
Mrs. Babin lived in Rochester, NH most of her life. She had worked in various positions with the Maybury Shoe Co for approximately 35 years and later worked at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH. She retired in 1978. She moved to the Bishop Bradley Apartments, Laconia, eight years ago. She had been a resident of the St. Francis Healthcare Center for the past two and half years.
Survivors include a son, Roger O. Babin, and daughter-in-law, Kathryn S. Babin, of Campton; a son-in-law, Ernest G. Bolduc, of Laconia; 5 grandchildren, Pamela Jordan of Lebanon, Karen Weinhold of Concord, Linda Powers of Gilford, Christian Babin of Laconia and Roger O. Babin, Jr. of Campton; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucia Tremblay and Irene Kaltsas, both of Rochester and many nephews and nieces. Beside her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Doris L. Bolduc, RN in 1997 and by five brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Whipple Avenue entrance.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 500 Morrill Street, Gilford, NH by Rev. Hector Bolduc, Pastor of the Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
