Belmont-----June R. Sykie, 71, of 297 Ladd Hill Road, died on Monday, October 17, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Sykie was the widow of John J. Sykie, Sr. who died in 1996.
Mrs. Sykie was born September 8, 1934 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Oscar and Lenora (Lamper) Bowles. She was a life long resident of the Lakes Region. She was employed at the Concord Hospital and was also the head cook at McKerley’s Nursing Home in Concord and Laconia. She also worked at the Salvage Shop in Lakeport.
Mrs. Sykie had a great love for her family and friends. She enjoyed antiques, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include three sons, John J. Sykie, Jr., of Charlestown, David Sykie, of Gilmanton, and Daren M. Sykie, of Alton; four daughters, Rebecca Eveleth, of Wakefield, Marcia Rouillard of Twin Mt., Juanita Baker of Laconia and Lenora Baud of Wakefield; twenty-one grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Alice Sykie, of Laconia; one niece and two nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Roger Bowles and Myron Bowles.
Calling hours will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH on Wednesday October 19, 2005 from 2:00-4:00PM and from 7:00-9:00PM.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 11:00AM also at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the family lot in New Riverside Cemetery, Alton, NH.
