Richard Ackley Dickson, Jr.

Canterbury-----Richard Ackley Dickson, Jr., 67, of Abberton Road, Canterbury, died at his home on Thursday, October 8, 2009 after a long courageous battle with Multiple system atrophy.

Mr. Dickson was born January 2, 1942 in Concord, N.H., the son of Catherine (Guertin) and Richard Ackley Dickson, Sr.

Dick proudly served in the U. S. Marines Corps. He was a lifelong resident of Canterbury. His livelihood was engineering, surveying, and land development for several years. He was most recently employed as a mortgage specialist for twenty years before retiring in May, 2007.

Mr. Dickson was a member of the Millsfield ATV Club and the New Hampshire Sno-Shakers Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, and woodworking at home. He loved spending time at his camp in Millsfield, NH, hunting, fishing, and ATVing.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kathryn (Knowlton) Dickson, of Canterbury; three sons, Corey Dickson and his wife, Michelle, of Jackson, Wyoming, Mark Dickson and his wife, Kris, of Gilford and Ryan Dickson of Laconia; a daughter, Erin Libby, and her husband, Brady, of Gilford; four grandchildren, Carlie, Evan, Meryk and Brock; his mother, Catherine (Guertin) Dickson of Pittsburg; a brother, George Dickson, of Colorado; a sister, Karen Dickson, of Pittsburg and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Richard A. Dickson, Sr.

A calling hour will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Canterbury United Community Church, 5 Center Road, Canterbury, N. H.

A celebration of his life will follow the calling hour at 12:00pm noon also at the Church.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Maple Grove Cemetery, Canterbury, N.H.
