Gilford-----Mrs. Jean-Marie (Sturrock) Jones, 75, of 26 Pineway, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia on Tuesday, September 3, 2002. She was the widow of Robert F. Jones who died in 1999.
Mrs. Jones was born May 24, 1927 in Dundee, Scotland, the daughter of David A. M. and Jean (Duncan) Sturrock. She came to this country when she was 3 months old and lived in Massachusetts and Gilmanton, NH before moving to Governor&Mac226;s Island, Gilford in 1938. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1945. In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, she helped establish the Nursery (Band) Guild of Laconia and was very active with the Shriners of Bektash Temple.
Survivors include three children, a daughter, Heather Russo, of Gilford, and twins, Ronald S. Jones and Janice Plummer both of Meredith; three grandchildren, Ryan Poirrier of Seattle, Washington, Todd Russo of Weymouth, MA and Alexandra Plummer of Meredith, NH; two great grandchildren, Jake and Paige Poirrier of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Shirley Browher of Orange, Connecticut; and cousins, nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and Scotland. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceased by a daughter, Wendy J. Beiler.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston Unit, c/o of the Bektash Shriners, PO Box 4086, Concord, NH 03302-4086 or to Community Health & Hospice, 780 No. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
