Reginald R. Groleau, Sr.

Laconia-----Reginald R. Groleau, Sr., 76, of 165 Valley Street, Lakeport, NH, died at his home on Monday, September 6, 2004. Mr. Groleau was the widower of Beverly (Wheeler) Groleau who died in 1993.

Mr. Groleau was born September 15, 1927 in Laconia, NH, the son of Honore and Angelina (Garneau) Groleau and was a lifetime resident of Laconia. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1946.

Mr. Groleau was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport, NH. Mr. Groleau worked for the New England Telephone Company for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1991. He was a family man and was known for his good work ethics. He was his wife's caregiver during her seven-year battle with cancer.

He was an artist and photographer and enjoyed golfing, hiking, hunting, fishing. He was a member of the 4000' Club of the Appalachian Mountain Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing and ski jumping and was a member of the Belknap/Gunstock Ski Area and also played clarinet. Mr. Groleau frequented the Small Café where he enjoyed visiting with his many friends.

Survivors include six sons, Thomas Groleau, of Laconia, NH; Reginald Groleau, Jr. of Gilford, NH; Greg Groleau of Scarborough, Maine; Timothy Groleau of Penacook, NH; Glenn Groleau of Belmont, NH and Scott Groleau of Laconia, NH; a daughter, Donna Jean Threlfall of Belmont, NH; thirteen grandchildren, Valerie, Tom, Terry, Jessica, Noel, Michelle, Andrew, Marc, Joshua, Eric, Cortney, Michael and Adam; six great grandchildren; one brother, Norman Groleau of Laconia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lucien Groleau and Roland Groleau.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2004 from 6:00-9:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 10:00AM. Rev. George Soberick, Pastor of the Church, will be the celebrant.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
