Harold W. Ryder

Laconia-----Harold W. Ryder, 83, of 704 Brewer Court, Briarcrest died at the St. Francis Home on Tuesday, August 31, 2004. He was the widower of Elizabeth (Kinney) Ryder who died in 1992.

Mr. Ryder was born May 5, 1921 in New Haven, CT, the son of Harold M. and Frances (Belshaw) Ryder. During WWII, he served in the U. S. Army, 739 Engineer Battalion, in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. Mr. Ryder was a long time resident of Connecticut before moving to Laconia five years ago. He worked at the Olin Corp. in New Haven for over forty years. Mr. Ryder was an avid woodworker.

Survivors include three sons, William W. Ryder of Danielson, CT, Peter R. Ryder, of Belmont, NH and Paul R. Ryder of New Boston, NH; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Hughes M. Ryder and a sister, Frances J. Peck.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Harold's memory to the St. Francis Home, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
