Laconia-----Verna E. Batchelder, 95, of 30 Country Drive and formerly of 129 Highland Street, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Thursday, September 28, 2006. Mrs. Batchelder was the widow of Earl S. Batchelder who died in 2002.
Mrs. Batchelder was born March 4, 1911 in Epsom, NH, the daughter of Bertel R. and Lena F. (Kimball) Foss. She lived in Colebrook, NH for several years before moving to Laconia 42 years ago.
Mrs. Batchelder will be known for her sweet smile and quick sense of humor and is best remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Lena F. Abbot and her husband, Robert, of Laconia; six grandchildren, Pamela Holland of Rydal, PA; Kelly Feeny of Allenstown, NH, Robin Rowe, Christina Batchelder, Jack Batchelder and Brandi DeGroot all of Laconia, NH; eleven grandchildren and two nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Edward S. Batchelder in 2003.
There will be no calling hours.
Mrs. Batchelder will be memorialized in a private graveside service at the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
